Eugene A.Lojewski, 88, a retired research chemist, died Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) in his Barker residence.
Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Franklinville High School and then operated a food market in Buffalo for 15 years.
He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Buffalo and a master's degree in biochemistry from Pennsylvania State University.
Lojewski worked as a research chemist in various places in Western New York.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gasport, the American Chemical Society and Lockport Senior Citizens.
During his retirement, he planted more than 40,000 seedlings of spruce, pine, black walnut and larch trees. He also enjoyed growing roses and orchids and playing chess and bridge.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, the former Florence Krole-wicz; a son, Robert of Colorado Springs; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Church, 8110 West Ave. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
