Olivia L. Baumgartner of Amherst, who had worked as a registered nurse, died unexpectedly Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2001) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. She was 74.

Born Olivia Avarello in Buffalo, she was a lifelong resident of the area.

She was a private-duty registered nurse.

Mrs. Baumgartner was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Christopher's Catholic Church and the Amherst Garden Club. Her husband, Leo F., died in 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Robertson of West Seneca and Beth Cobb of Houston; a son, Leo J. of Tucson, Ariz.; a sister, Josephine Wallum of Tucson; a brother, Peter Avarello of Amherst; and four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Christopher's Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Town of Tonawanda. Prayers will be said at 8:45 in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda.
