ToolSource.com in Ellicottville, an e-supplier of auto mechanic's tools, has been acquired by a Seattle-area car-care portal for an undisclosed sum.
iCARumba of Bothell, Wash., will add the seven-person tool supplier to its growing collection of online automotive resources.
From its site at www.icarumba.com, the privately held company sets up appointments for auto service at its 16,000 member mechanics.
The West Coast company plans to keep ToolSource's operations and present management intact in Ellicotville.
Founded in San Francisco by entrepreneur Lori Northrup, ToolSource moved to the Southern Tier last year after a funding deal fell through. It sells about 40,000 auto service tools via its Web site.
The acquisition by iCARumba will bring a "far bigger audience" for ToolSource's suppliers, president Timm Herman said in a statement.
