Daniel J. Brown, a railroad engineer for 46 years, died Monday (Feb. 5, 2001) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a lengthy illness. He was 76.
A native of Buffalo, Brown attended local schools. He served with the Army during World War II in the European Theater.
A longtime Hamburg resident, he was an engineer with what became Conrail from 1940 until he retired in 1986. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, the former Beverly J. Lonien of the Town of Tonawanda; two daughters, Deborah O'Neill of East Amherst and Lynne Kulakowski of the Town of Tonawanda; a sister, Dolores Alexander of Amherst; a brother, James of Ridgeway, Ont.; and five grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 8:45 a.m. Thursday in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 200 St. Gregory Court, Amherst. Burial will be in Buffalo Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
