A workshop on New York's elementary school learning standards will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Villa Maria College, 240 Pine Ridge Road, Cheektowaga.
The program, presented by the college's Lifelong Learning Center, is geared toward educators and parents.

County sets HEAP outreach day
Erie County will hold a Home Energy Assistance Program outreach day in the Town of Tonawanda next Tuesday.
HEAP aids eligible applicants in paying their heating bills.
Applications will be accepted starting at 9 a.m. in the auditorium of the Philip Sheridan Building, 3200 Elmwood Ave. Applicants are advised to arrive before 9 a.m. to sign in, because only a limited number of applications will be processed.
Applicants need to bring proof of income for the past month; proof of all members of the household, such as Social Security cards; proof of residency, such as rent or mortgage receipts; and a heating bill. If a shutoff notice has been received, that should also be brought.

St. Joe's is scene of Stardust dance
Stardust, an annual adult Valentine's dance, will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, 845 Kenmore Ave., Town of Tonawanda.
