On May 2, 1999, my brother died as a result of a motorcycle accident. The speeding motorist who hit him received two traffic violations. On Jan. 14, two teenagers were killed and two were seriously injured on Niagara Falls Boulevard. The speeding motorist faces three traffic charges.
Why does society seek other variables on which to place the blame? Dry or wet pavement doesn't really matter. The fact is, both drivers were speeding, which is a deliberate, reckless act.
Let's make these people accountable, and let's work with our lawmakers to pass more stringent laws. Traffic charges hardly seem a fair exchange for the loss of innocent lives.
