Niagara University will hold its annual Sports Benefit Dinner on Monday at the Como Restaurant in Niagara Falls. Cocktails will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30.

There will be a silent auction. Proceeds go to the Niagara Athletics Academic Advising Program. For information and tickets, call Mike Herman at 286-8601.
Otis Key of the Harlem Globetrotters will be available for photos and for signing autographs today from 2:45-3:45 p.m. at the Tops Market on Amherst Street in Buffalo.

John Tavares of the Buffalo Bandits will sign autographs at Lou Ann's Smoke Shop on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation from Noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10. The next day, Feb. 11, Tavares will be signing at the Two Way Smoke Shop on Route 20, also on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation, from Noon to 2 p.m.

Canisius swept first place with 93 points and won all four events at its own Canisius Invitational Synchronized Swimming competition last weekend.

Jill Wright (Kenmore East) captured first in solo with 90.11 points. Twin sisters Alejandra and Gabriella Pinango were top scorers in duet with 87.60 points. Wright and the Pinangos teamed up to win the trio with 88.467 points. The Griffs' team of Ruth Ashburn, Kristal Brounce, Heather Forester, Laura Gellin (Holy Angeles), Kate Matusiak, the Pinango twins and Wright took first with 91.33 points.

Fifty-three swimmers represented Canisius, Keuka College, Walsh (Ohio) University and the University of Richmond.

BASEBALL: The Tonawanda National League and the Tonawanda American League have merged. Registration dates for the league for boys and girls ages 5-18 who reside in the City of Tonawanda, most of the Town of Tonawanda and Kenmore, will be Friday from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Call 694-6229. . . .
