I read with great interest the article, "License scan assures legal alcohol and tobacco sales," in the Jan. 25 News. There will always be people who believe that Noco Express Shop has other motives behind all of this. But the bottom line is that the company spent $110,000 on equipment to keep alcohol and tobacco out of the hands of minors, and therefore keep Noco out of trouble and the court system.
This is not only a good business decision, but more importantly, it makes it harder for kids to get cigarettes and beer at an early age. In Kenmore and Tonawanda, there are many other retail stores that sell alcohol and tobacco. I hope they consider putting this system in their stores to deter kids from smoking and drinking at an early age. Noco should be applauded for its efforts.
