Harold R. Vesper, 79, a retired Buffalo firefighter of 32 years and Port Orange, Fla., resident, died Friday (Feb. 2, 2001) in Halifax Medical Center, Daytona, Fla.

Born in Leon, Iowa, Vesper came to Buffalo at an early age and was raised in the city. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Forces.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eileen Halloran Vesper; four daughters, Debbie and Sally, both of Buffalo, Merry Jayne Hoak of Miami and Laurel O'Hern of Port Orange; a brother, Henry of Sarasota, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are private.
