Francis L. Brooks, 79, a retired school bus driver, died Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) in his daughter's home in Marietta, Ga., after a lengthy illness.
Born in Colden, he served in the Army Air Forces during World War II in the China-Burma-India Theater. He had several occupations before becoming a bus driver in the Pioneer Central School system for Roberts Bus Service and Laidlaw Bus Service.
His wife, Lottie Zalesna Brooks, died in 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Meyers of Machias and Jean Wassel of Marietta; five sisters, Virginia Winter of North Collins, Velma Spencer and Mary Lou Sworts, both of Delevan, and Verna Wojick and Norma Pieroni, both of Buffalo; a close friend, his sister-in-law Stella Krolick of Arcade; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Delevan United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sardinia Cemetery.
