SPORTY MEAL

No meat or potatoes
this day.
Melaine makes
a "sporty" meal,
a light repast
or spring-green
greens,
lightly trashed.
And tuna,
mixed with
mustard
not mayo,
on muscular
rolls,
bulky not heavy.
A meal
as lean
and light
as the cook,
well-suited to
this summer day
so unseasonably
arrived
a week before
the Ides of March,
a painting, sky-blue day
when even the river
beneath my balcony
tries to run faster.
