Mildred Mary Schoonmaker, 85, of Derby, a retired bakery worker and election inspector, died Friday (Feb. 2, 2001) in Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, after a brief illness.
Born Mildred Lecceardone in Red House, she at one time worked for the Sheble and Wood Yarn Co. of Salamanca and was treasurer of the Textile Workers Union of America Local 629.
She also worked for many years at Oswalds Bakery in Derby.
She had been an election inspector for the Town of Evans and was an active member of the Evans Democratic Committee.
Mrs. Schoonmaker was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Highland Hose Volunteer Fire Department and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Her husband, Claire E, Schoonmaker, died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Larry Ralph of Limestone; a daughter, Cheryl Daigle of Clifton Park; one sister, Isabel Gilman of Salamanca; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 8:15 a.m. Monday in Heimburg-Addison Funeral Home, 262 N. Main St., Angola, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 2050 S. Creek Road, North Evans. B
