Eleanor A. Gentile, 78, a former secretary at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, died Thursday (Feb. 1, 2001) in her home after a long illness.
The former Eleanor Comnack was born in Hull, Quebec, but moved to Niagara Falls, Ont., as a child. She attended school there and moved to Niagara Falls in 1949.
Mrs. Gentile was a ward secretary at the medical center for 15 years, retiring in 1980. After that, she worked as an office cleaner at Santarosa Trucking Co. for almost 10 years.
She enjoyed ceramics, hand painting, baking, cooking and Broadway shows.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Joseph D., known as "Smokey"; her son, Michael J. of Youngstown; her daughter, Carol A.; and her grandson, Alexander J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 14th Street and Pine Avenue, after prayers at 10 in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
