Black History Month event: The annual Black History Month Kickoff Breakfast; 9:30 a.m., 1490 Enterprises headquarters, 1490 Jefferson Ave. Guest speaker is City Judge Robert Russell. More than 250 exhibits will be shown, featuring outstanding African-Americans. Admission is free.

Fund-raiser: A silent auction of 50 miniature replicas of the "Herd About Buffalo" statues will be the highlight of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute All-Star Night 2001, a black-tie fund-raiser; 6 p.m., Adam's Mark Hotel. Fun Fair: A Kids' Fun Fair brings a petting zoo of exotic animals to the International Agri-Center at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Hamburg; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be carnival rides and elephant, pony and camel rides, as well. Admission is $7 for adults. Children under 12 are free. Also from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.


Winter Fun Fest: The Lockport YMCA sponsors a variety of activities; 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Kenan Center Arena, 433 Locust St. Carnival games, a petting zoo, horse-drawn wagon rides, chili cook-off, Civil War re-enactment, live animal displays and more. Call 434-8887 for information.

Children's theater: "Bright Bondfast, Space Scientist" is a fun, mind-tickling theater piece for children ages 5 to 10; performances at noon, 2 and 4 p.m., Kenan Center's Taylor Theater, 433 Locust St. Admission is by free-will donation.

Niagara Falls

Lecture: Old Fort Niagara presents its "Cabin Fever" lecture series. "The Niagara Portage During the American Revolution" lecture will take place at 2 p.m. in the Officers Club building in Fort Niagara State Park. An Old Fort Niagara admission ticket is required and may be purchased at the door. Tickets are $6.75 for adults, $5.50 for seniors, $4.50 for children 6 to 12, free for children under 6. Artist reception: Meet the artists represented in "Studio 2001," an art show featuring works by emerging and established artists working in Partners in Art studio; 4 to 7 p.m., Partners in Art Gallery, 83 Webster St. The show runs through Feb. 24. Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
