INAUGURATION STORY FOCUSED ON PETTY ISSUES

The headline of The News' coverage of the inauguration, "Amid revelry, a chill in the air," tells us that the article is not going to convey the events at the inauguration but rather Jerry Zremski's interpretation of them.

I expect that kind of reporting in The News, but for him to open his article with the observation that the Bush twins did not applaud Hillary Clinton or Tipper Gore is stooping pretty low to make a perceived issue out of a nonissue. Did he take notes on who applauded whom at every point of applause? I would think that there were more important, newsworthy items to cover at an inauguration.
