WOMAN EYED IN BURGLARIES OF HOPKINS ROAD HOMES

Amherst police believe a woman burglarized two Hopkins Road homes Tuesday morning.

A homeowner in the 200 block of Hopkins Road reported seeing a woman go into his garage and then run into his house and out the back door about 10 a.m. When the man's wife came home, she discovered $1,500 in jewelry had been stolen from their bedroom, police said.

A few houses away, a homeowner reported at 11 a.m. that someone had taken costume jewelry from the home. Police searched the area but found no one.

However, a neighbor reported seeing a white Buick, possibly a Buick Regal, with a dark interior and wire hubcaps driving around the neighborhood when the crimes occurred. Police describe the woman as Hispanic with a medium build and about 5 feet 5 inches tall. She was wearing a dark blue baseball cap and overalls.

Anyone with information should call Amherst police at 689-1311.
