PRO-LIFE ACTIVIST WEIGHS APPEALING REJECTION OF SUIT

A Buffalo pro-life activist who lost her federal lawsuit accusing a former city police officer of false arrest is considering an appeal of the verdict.

A jury on Sept. 15 found no cause for action in the lawsuit filed by Barbara Johnson-Kirk, 38, of Buffalo, against Thomas Zamrock, a retired police officer. Johnson-Kirk claimed Zamrock falsely arrested her for trespass and resisting arrest after a demonstration at the Buffalo GYN Womenservices clinic, 1241 Main St., on Oct. 3, 1992.

A City Court judge later dismissed the criminal charges, but after a three-day trial this month, jurors at federal court found against Johnson-Kirk, who sued the retired officer for more than $1 million.
