Memorial services for Gordon P. Simons, a longtime general sales manager for Harrison Radiator, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Plymouth Congregational Church, 98 East Ave. Burial will be in Bay Pine Military Cemetery, St. Petersburg, Fla.

Simons, 78, formerly of Lockport, died Sept. 20, 1999, in his Palmetto, Fla., home following a long illness.

He was born in Roulette, Pa.

Simons was a graduate of Lockport High School and he attended Millard Fillmore College in Buffalo.

He spent four years in the Army, serving in Alaska and India during World War II, attaining the rank of staff sergeant.

Simons married the former Audrey M. Whitney in 1940.

He retired in 1976 after 38 years with the former Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors, where he had been a general sales manager.

Simons was a lifetime member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge 41.

He enjoyed fishing, boating and golfing. He spent his summers at Alexandria Bay on the St. Lawrence River and winters in St. Petersburg and Palmetto, Fla.

In addition to his wife, Simons is survived by a daughter, Sonja Raetz of Lake Orion, Mich.; a son, Philip; two brothers, Raymond of St. Petersburg, and Lewis; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
