A bicyclist accused of robbing a school nurse at gunpoint was apprehended by two Broadway Station officers Wednesday morning after a foot chase, authorities said.

Lt. Duane T. Rizzo, police department spokesman, said Tabrois T. Baity, 20, of Brown Street, pointed a handgun through an open window of the nurse's car as she pulled into the parking lot of the Poplar Street Academy.

"He then jumped in the back seat of her car and choked her and demanded more money after she had already given him her change purse," Rizzo said. "He also took her knapsack and fled on his bicycle."

Officers Margaret Dragone, Antoinette Garbacz and others spotted Baity riding his bicycle through back yards and later running through a neighborhood cemetery, police said.

"The officers cornered him and placed him under arrest after a brief struggle," Rizzo said.

Baity was charged with first-degree robbery, criminal possession of a pellet gun, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.

Detectives were questioning Baity about two similar robberies in the past week.
