Princess Cristina, youngest daughter of Spain's king and queen, gave birth to a son Wednesday.
The child, named Juan, is the second grandchild for King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia.
Cristina, who married Basque handball player Inaki Urgandarin in October 1997 in Barcelona, gave birth in Barcelona's Teknon hospital. She was admitted at the hospital Tuesday evening and gave birth about five hours later.
Princess Elena, Cristina's eldest sister, had a son in July 1998 who is third in line to the throne after his uncle Crown Prince Felipe, and Elena. Felipe remains unmarried.
