3-DAY MEETING TO FOCUS ON AREA GEOLOGICAL SITES

Areas of geological significance in Western New York and southern Ontario will be highlighted during the 71st annual meeting of the New York State Geological Association this weekend at Fredonia State College.

Professional and academic geologists, high school teachers and graduate and undergraduate students are expected at the three-day event, which will include workshops in geosciences.

At a banquet Saturday in Cranston Hall on the Fredonia campus, Loren Babcock, a 1983 graduate of Fredonia State and now a geologist at Ohio State University, will discuss "The Cambrian Explosion: New Discoveries from China about the Early Evolution of Life" during the banquet.
