Favorite autumn attractions at Pumpkinville and Push's Cider Mill are open for the season.
Pumpkinville, located at Sugartown Road, just off Route 98, is open from 9 a.m. to dusk daily. It is a place where pumpkins make up a story land setting that includes a haunted house, painted pumpkins and a craft barn. Pumpkins, squash, apples and baked goods are for sale.
In "Storyland," visitors seek out the haunted cemetery, hop on the Pumpkinville Express, and visit with Cinderella, Peter-Peter (Pumpkin Eater), Snoopy and the Great Pumpkin and the Farmer in the Dell.
Local artisans stock the craft barn, which also features other goodies such as maple and honey products, jams and jellies, candy and fudge.
On Oct. 8, world-champion pumpkin carver Jerry Ayers will perform his craft. He has appeared on "Live with Regis and Kathie Lee."

Pumpkinville was created in the late 1960s by Joe and Helen Halloran and their children, who began growing a few pumpkins. As the years passed, displays were added to the pumpkins sold on their front lawn and Pumpkinville grew into a tourist attraction.
It was sold to Dan and Diane Pawlowski in 1996 and moved about a mile from the Hallorans' front lawn to its current site.
On nearby Route 98, Push's Cider Mill opens for its 35th year.
Cider is made at scheduled times Saturday and Sunday on a 1920 cider press.
Visitors can stop at the Cider Mill Store or craft and flea market.
Farm animals are on exhibit daily and there is a place to picnic while enjoying the beauty of the fall foliage resonating from the surrounding hills.
The mill opened in 1964 and a tractor with a pulley and belt powered the mill. Later a gasoline engine was used and now it runs on electricity.
In the early days cider sold for 25 cents a glass jug and was stored in large wooden barrels. Today the cider is stored in refrigerated stainless-steel tanks and plastic jugs are used.
The mill is open for guided tours by calling 699-2113. It is open noon to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends.
