NEWS NAMES GALLAGHER-COHEN TO INTEGRATED MARKETING POST

The Buffalo News has named Dorothy Gallagher-Cohen director of new media and integrated marketing, a new position created to market the newspaper's site on the World Wide Web to advertisers.

Gallagher-Cohen was previously The News director of public affairs and promotion. She will continue to oversee that department in her new role, which begins Oct. 1.

"I'll be leading, from a strategic point of view, our Web operation," she said.

The new media director is responsible for packaging classified and display advertising for sale via the Internet while looking for new business opportunities, such as helping advertisers conduct electronic commerce, she said.

The News launched its Buffalo.com site Sept. 23.

Before coming to The News as director of public affairs and promotion in 1996, Gallagher-Cohen, 38, was chief operating officer of CCI Integrated Marketing Services, a marketing company in Buffalo. Before that she served as executive director of the Kelly for Kids Foundation, a grant program established by former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly.

A Buffalo native, Gallagher-Cohen graduated from Towson State University in 1982 with a bachelor's in mass communications.
