Mayor Masiello joined James Boles, president and chief executive officer of People Inc., for a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday that marked the official opening of a new three-story apartment building at 1188 Hertel Ave. for senior citizens.
It was built with a $2.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
People Inc.'s Ivy Rose Housing Corp. building has 36 one-bedroom apartments with van service and adaptable facilities for those with impaired sight, hearing or mobility.
A landscaped courtyard was built with a grant from the General Mills Foundation. A manager will live in the complex.
