A Cattaraugus County company that processes recyclables is building a new $250,000 warehouse in Erie County.
CECM Corp. held groundbreaking ceremonies Monday at a site on Schutt Road off Route 16 in Sardinia where it is building a 12,000-square-foot warehouse.
Founded 10 years ago, CECM processes various recyclables for industries, including plastics, glass, cardboard, newspaper and clothing.
The company currently operates out of a smaller facility in the neighboring town of Delevan. Linda Kinney Brown, president and CEO, said the company will retain some of its operations at the Cattaraugus County site.
CECM currently employs three full-time workers and two part-timers. It also operates a clothing store in Yorkshire.
"I would like to double our payroll within 12 months," said Brown. "I would also eventually like to have everything under one roof."
Officials also considered expanding into Wyoming County, but Brown said they couldn't locate a suitable piece of property off a main thoroughfare.
The woman-owned business is receiving a loan through a 65-35 lending initiative that involves Fleet Bank and the Erie County Industrial Development Agency.
Brown expects the new warehouse to be completed and occupied in November.
