An Olean man who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child was sentenced Monday to one to three years in prison by Cattaraugus County Court Judge Larry M. Himelein.
Arthur R. Nelson, 20, pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse of a child younger than 11. The crime occurred on July 30 in Olean.
In other cases:
Micah E. Smith, 30, of Ceres was sentenced to two to six years in prison and fined $5,500 for guilty pleas to driving while intoxicated and two counts of driving without a license. The crimes occurred May 9 and July 9 in Olean.
Christopher S. Bova, 37, of Franklinville was sentenced to 1 1/2 to 4 1/2 years in prison for his guilty plea to third-degree attempted arson. On May 30 in Franklinville, Bova set a car on fire, endangering others.
Iluminado Ruiz II, 20, of Salamanca was sentenced to four years in prison for his guilty plea to second-degree assault. On March 25, he assaulted employees of Wickers Restaurant in Salamanca.
Joseph W. Shelton, 39, of Salamanca was sentenced to one to three years in prison and fined $5,000 for his guilty plea to driving while intoxicated. When arrested Nov. 14 in Mansfield, he registered a blood-alcohol count of .24 percent.
Charles T. Bennett, 25, of Olean was sentenced to 1 1/3 to four years in prison for his guilty plea to third-degree attempted burglary, Nov. 21 at the Salamanca Housing Authority. he also was ordered to pay $2,500 in restitution.
David J. Sharp, 22, of Buffalo was sentenced to one to three years in prison for his guilty plea to probation violation stemming from an assault conviction in Erie County. He was placed on probation in 1997, after being convicted of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Freddie L. Pace, 38, of Buffalo was sentenced to one year in jail for his guilty plea to fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, April 30 in Yorkshire. He will serve the sentence consecutively with a jail term currently being served in Erie County.
Francis A. Skiver, 33, of Olean was sentenced to one year in jail and fined $5,000 for his conviction of driving while intoxicated, Dec. 13 in Olean.
William B. Spencer, 40, of Salamanca was sentenced to 60 days in jail, five years of probation and 12 weekends of community service for his guilty plea to third-degree attempted burglary, July 3 at a dental office in Salamanca.
Douglas C. Kirtz, 44, of Portville was sentenced to five years of probation, including six months of electronic monitoring, and fined $2,000 for his guilty plea to driving while intoxicated, July 4 in Portville.
Sentencings were scheduled in November for several persons pleading guilty in the following cases:
Christopher Nolan, 29, of Olean -- third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument (forged medical prescription), Jan. 1 in Allegany.
Glenn E. Clark III, 42, of South Dayton -- driving while intoxicated, June 14 in Dayton.
James Allers, 39, of Portland, Tenn. -- third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument (a $100 check) April 26 in Olean.
Dolores Redeye, 42, of Salamanca -- driving while intoxicated, Aug. 8 in Salamanca.
Charles F. Jurenko, 60, of Olean -- driving while intoxicated, Aug. 26 in Olean.
Rodney J. Bates, 28, of Gowanda -- driving while intoxicated, May 9 in Little Valley.
Dale Green, 27, of Olean will be sentenced Jan. 10 after pleading guilty to fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, May 1, and driving while intoxicated, Aug. 22, both in Olean.
