AN EAR'S UP ON TONSILS

Having your child's tonsils and adenoids removed does little to combat chronic ear infections, says a new study. Non-surgical treatments should be tried first, with tube emplacement "to be considered later as the preferred first surgical recourse," and adenoid removal considered only if infections continue, says the report from Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.
