Summer staged a sunny comeback Sunday as the temperature climbed to an official high of 80 at the National Weather Service office at Buffalo Niagara International Airport in Cheektowaga. It was only two degrees short of the record set in 1908.
The balmy weather isn't going to last, however. Clouds are forecast to arrive this afternoon in advance of a slow-moving cold front, which will bring showers and possibly thunderstorms Tuesday.
Rain is also in the forecast for Wednesday and Thursday as temperatures gradually cool down. When the sun returns on Friday, the high is expected to reach only into the middle or upper 50s.
