Two motorists, one going 70 mph and another 100 mph, were arrested on Lockport Road over the weekend in unrelated DWI cases reported by the state
Michael R. Taczak, 21, of Trowbridge Road, was stopped at 3:06 a.m. Sunday by a trooper who said he was speeding at 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. He was also charged with driving while intoxicated and with a suspended license.
In addition, troopers discovered two outstanding warrants for Taczak's arrest on charges of harassment and aggravated harassment in Lockport. After arraignment before Town Justice Lee F. Klein, a hearing was set for Oct. 27 and he was sent to the Niagara County Jail on $500 bail.
Richard S. Kirkland, 23, of Loretta Drive, Niagara Falls, was stopped on Lockport Road at 12:02 a.m. Saturday and charged with speeding at 100 mph. He, too, was also charged with driving while intoxicated and with a suspended license. He is to appear in Town Court on Oct. 13.
