Buffalo police arrested an Elmwood Avenue youth Saturday night who is accused of slashing a Spring Street man in the face and left forearm with a broken beer bottle.

Police charged Thomas J. Heard, 17, with felony second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor, in the assault on Marcus Nichols, 18, of Spring Street. Police arrested Heard at 8:30 p.m. at 100 High St.

Nichols suffered a 2-inch cut on the left side of his face and a 1-and one-half-inch cut on his forearm. He was treated at Buffalo General Hospital.
