Peter M. Reele, 80, of Porter Road, who drove for the Scrufari Construction Co. of Niagara Falls for 35 years, died Saturday (Sept. 25, 1999) while under Hospice care in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston.
He was born in Niagara Falls and attended school locally.
Reele served in the Navy during World War II. Upon returning to this area, he drove for the Scrufari Construction Co., retiring in 1980.
He was a member of Local 449 of the Teamsters Union and was an exempt firefighter for the Niagara No. 1 Fire Company.
He also was a member of the Lewiston Seniors and the Town of Niagara 50-Plus Club.
As a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Reele served as bingo team captain and was a member of the Holy Name Society.
Reele also enjoyed golf, playing cards, bowling and horse racing.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, the former Mary Cicero; a son, David P. of Niagara Falls; two daughters, Barbara Gorzka and Margaret Rizzo, both of Lewiston; a brother, Louis of Niagara Falls; two sisters, Lena Mansu of Lodi, Calif., and Gertrude Mattucilli of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Leo's Catholic Church, 2748 Military Road, following prayers at 9 in Otto Redanz LaSalle Park Chapel, 2215 Military Road. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls.
