JEANNE LENNON, RETIRED EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

Services will be held Monday for Jeanne Fincel, 66, a longtime Williamsville resident who died Thursday (Sept. 23, 1999) in her daughter's West Seneca home following a long illness.

Born in Buffalo, the former Jeanne Lennon, who was known as Marie, had lived in East Aurora for five years. Before that, she spent most of her life in Williamsville, where she raised her six children.

"She devoted a lot of time to her kids and grandchildren," said a daughter, Kathryn G. Bott of Williamsville.

Mrs. Fincel graduated from Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart in 1950 and attended the former Rosary Hill College for two years.

A homemaker, she also worked for several local firms as an executive secretary -- most recently the Williamsville Executive Center and Hamburg Brothers of Amherst. She stopped working in the early 1990s, when she became ill.

Mrs. Fincel was active for several years at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Williamsville, where she was involved in the parish community. While there, she helped direct one-act plays for the Catholic Youth Organization.

She also was a Brownie troop leader at the church while her children were young.

Most recently, she attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in East Aurora.

An avid reader and cook, Mrs. Fincel also wrote poetry for her children and grandchildren. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as Nana.

She enjoyed music, especially Dixieland, and dancing.

In addition to her daughter, survivors include three other daughters, Mary E. of West Seneca; Patricia Anderson of Clarence; Margaret M. of East Aurora; two sons, John J. of Cheektowaga and Joseph G. of West Seneca; a sister, Joanne Cullinan of Kenmore; a brother, James Lennon of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 520 Oakwood Ave., East Aurora. Burial will be at a later date.
