Rex E. Ballantine Jr., 42, of Williamsville, co-owner of eight independent pharmacies in New York and Michigan, died Friday (Sept. 24, 1999) in Kenmore Mercy Hospital after a long illness.
A native of St. Johns, Mich., Ballantine was a graduate of Ovid-Elsie High School and received a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Ferris State University in Michigan. He lived most of his life in Elsie, Mich.
Ballantine was a member of The Chapel in Williamsville and belonged to the Pharmacists Association of Western New York.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Rachel of Muskegon, Mich.; a son, Nathan of Muskegon; his parents, Dorothy and Rex Sr. of Elsie; and a sister, Debra Wright of Alma, Mich.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Smith Funeral Homes, 221 E. Main St., Elsie. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Elsie.
