Pauline B. Nowak, a retired department store clerk, died Thursday (Sept. 23, 1999) in her Oriole Lane home after a brief illness. She was 78.

The former Pauline Fiorotto was born in Copper Cliff, Ont., and came to Niagara Falls as a child. She moved to Lewiston in 1996.

She had worked in Jenss Department Store in the housewares department at the former Mil-Pine and Summit Park Mall stores for 25 years before she retired in 1992.

Mrs. Nowak enjoyed gardening, cooking and crocheting.

She was the widow of Walter J., who died in 1984.

Mrs. Nowak is survived by a son, Mark E. of Onley, Va.; two daughters, Elaine Bell and Karen; a brother, Gino Fiorotto; a sister, Norma Umbriaco of Las Vegas; and three grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, South Avenue at 11th Street, Niagara Falls, following services at 9:15 in the Rhoney Funeral Home, Cayuga and South Ninth streets. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
