MAN SENTENCED FOR ROBBERY

A Buffalo man was sentenced Friday to three to six years in prison for gunpoint robbery of $27 from a driver for Liberty Cab Co.

State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia rebuked Samuel Devonshire, 41, of Allen Street for the stickup on Oct. 12, 1998, and cited his criminal record in imposing the prison term on his July 30 jury conviction for robbery, resisting arrest and harassment.

Prosecutors said Devonshire robbed the driver after he attempted to pay a $4 fare by offering him a box supposedly containing a computer. When the cabbie refused to take the box, Devonshire stole all his money, the prosecutor said.
