Town of Tonawanda police have charged two 12-year-olds and a 13-year-old with setting a fire in a tractor trailer rig Thursday afternoon, Assistant Chief Robert J. Rowland said.
The three boys live on Royal Avenue, Ontario Street and Riverside Avenue in the Riverside section of Buffalo, Rowland said.
Names were not released because of their ages, he said.
The fire, ignited at 4:30 p.m., caused $15,000 damage to the cab of the 1992 rig in a parking lot of the Spirit Express Co. of Western New York at 176 Vulcan St., Rowland said.
An employee of the trucking firm spotted the boys at the scene, then saw smoke coming from the truck and called police, Rowland said.
Town police apprehended the three near the scene, and firefighters from a number of companies extinguished the fire, he said.
