WILSON MAYOR CITES LOSS IN SUPERVISOR RECOUNT

Village Mayor Jerry L. Dean said Wednesday he lost in a recount of the Republican primary for town
supervisor.

Dean said he witnessed the recount at the Board of Elections, including the opening of absentee ballots, and he said he lost 350-345 to incumbent Supervisor Marilynn R. Allgeier.

On primary night, unofficial voting machine returns showed Dean leading 333-329.

GOP election commissioner Michael J. Norris would not confirm Dean's report of the results, saying the numbers are still being rechecked. He said he hopes the primary results can be certified by the end of the week.

Dean said, "I think I made a good showing." He still has the Democratic Party nomination for the general election, but the GOP has a heavy enrollment edge in Wilson.
