ORLEANS COUNTY TO FOCUS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Orleans County has declared October as Domestic Violence Awareness month.

During a Wednesday meeting the Orleans County Legislature presented a copy of the proclamation to DeAnne Corke, director of the Orleans County Domestic Violence Association.

In Orleans County, which has a population of 40,000, police received 485 domestic violence reports during the past 18 months.

"We urge all citizens to support domestic violence awareness, victims' rights and services," said Legislator David Callard.
