The man convicted of stalking comedian Jerry Lewis must continue to stay away from him for at least one more year.
Justice of the Peace Jennifer Togliatti granted Lewis' request Tuesday to extend a 1992 protection order against Gary Benson until Sept. 21, 2000.
Benson, a 56-year-old man diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia, was convicted in 1995 of aggravated stalking. He will be released from prison on Oct. 5. With work credits and good-behavior time, Benson served slightly more than four years of a six-year sentence, prison officials said.
"You are to have no contact with Mr. Lewis," Togliatti said, telling Benson that that included e-mails, phone calls, personal contact and "skywriting."
