Perhaps it's time to begin thinking smart. The proposed Niagara River twin span has little resemblance to the original Peace Bridge. The only result of this plan will be a symbol of our unwillingness as a community to move forward instead of backward, or even sideways.
Buffalo is truly a wonderful place. This fact is most recognized not by those who remain here, but by those who travel abroad and compare.
Consider the Lake Erie waterfront and Niagara River; the colorful art scene, great restaurants, music, theater and entertainment district; our close proximity to Niagara Falls, Chautauqua and Canada; or our skiing, snow, professional sports and green suburbs. These are just a few of the things that make the area such an interesting and fun place to live.
Why not add flavor to our local culture and build a signature bridge? Is your answer an optimistic one that will support our region and move it forward? If not, why not?
