DURING ELECTION YEARS, FACTS ARE OFTEN IGNORED

As the November election approaches, a lot of misinformation is being passed around in the hope of picking up some votes. One such story is that Wilson Supervisor Marilynn Allgeier did away with the town's water department.

In reality, the highway and water departments were placed under the supervision of one person to make them more efficient and save money. When there is no work in the water department, the employees work in the highway department.

Charles Keipper, chairman of the Sunset Island Sewer Committee, was quoted in The News as saying, "I see no reason why (Mrs. Allgeier) should be voted back into office after having blown a quarter of a million dollars." The money spent on trying to get sewers for that island goes way back to the 1970s. Mrs. Allgeier only has been supervisor for two years.
