SNYDER APPOINTED TO HEALTH AGENCY

Former Seneca Nation of Indians Treasurer Rae Jones Snyder has been named senior adviser to the director of Indian Health Services in Rockville, Maryland.

The appointment was announced by Director Michael H. Trujillo, who said Ms. Snyder's experience will enable the agency to expand relationships with other agencies to educate others about the health care needs of American Indians and Alaska natives.

She will work with tribes and organizations at the White House and congressional committees to secure resources for programs.

Ms. Snyder previously served as director of tribal health for the Seneca Nation, as a tribal councillor for eight years and two terms as treasurer. Last year, she was an unsuccessful candidate for president of the Seneca Nation.

A graduate of St. Bonaventure University, she received her master's degree in health administration from the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health. She has also completed post graduate work in administration, finance and contract law.
