A double shooting early Sunday outside a social club at 2188 Bailey Ave. wounded one man in the chest and another man in the leg, Capt. Joseph Riga, chief of the city's Homicide Bureau, said.
Both men were bystanders to a dispute that escalated into gunfire, according to Riga.
"There was an argument inside the club between a young female and a male," he said. "Other people got involved and the argument spilled out into the street where it continued. There was an exchange of gunfire between two men. Two others, bystanders, got hit."
Antwanne Minter, 18, of Hewitt Avenue, was shot once in the chest at about 3:15 a.m., Riga said. Minter was upgraded from critical to stable Sunday afternoon in the Intensive Care Unit of the Erie County Medical Center.
Chelston Martin, 25, of Zenner Street, was shot in the leg. He was in surgery Sunday afternoon at the medical center. "He is expected to be OK," Riga said.
Police had no one in custody.
"We would like to find both people involved in the shooting," Riga said, adding police are also "trying to determine what the argument was about."
