A double shooting early Sunday outside a social club at 2188 Bailey Ave. left one man critically injured with a chest wound and another hospitalized with a leg wound, Capt. Joseph Riga, chief of the city's Homicide Bureau, said.
Both men were bystanders to a dispute that escalated into gunfire, according to Riga.
"There was an argument inside the club between a young female and a male," he said. "Other people got involved, and the argument spilled out into the street where it continued. There was an exchange of gunfire between two men. Two others, bystanders, got hit."
Antwanne Minter, 18, of Hewitt Avenue was shot once in the chest at about 3:15 a.m., Riga said. Minter's condition was downgraded from stable to critical this morning in the Intensive Care Unit of Erie County Medical Center.
Chelston Martin, 25, of Zenner Street was shot in the leg. He was was listed in fair condition today in ECMC. "He is expected to be OK," Riga said. Police have not made any arrests in the case.
