Esther Slocum Jines, 74, of Hermitage, a homemaker, died Thursday (Sept. 16, 1999) in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, after a brief illness.

The Perry native and her husband retired from farming in 1985.

She was known for her colorful anecdotes.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Clarence W. "Bill"; five daughters, Karen M. Spencer of Rochester, Carol Raiber of Le Roy, Cheryl of Clearwater, Fla., Kathy Jordan of Bliss and Patti Mandeville of Gainesville; three sons, Carl and Clayton, both of Gainesville, and Roger; two sisters, Ruth Beardsley of Perry and Loraine Perry of Bliss; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry.
