The dramatic killing of a wanted Red Army Faction terrorist on a Vienna street corner, and the arrest of his female companion, cut Germany's most wanted list of leftist terrorists to three.

Vienna police shot and killed Horst Ludwig Meyer, 43, after he drew a pistol and disarmed an officer who had asked to see his identification papers Wednesday.

His female companion was arrested and identified later through fingerprints as Andrea Klump, 42, a suspected member of the Red Army Faction wanted in the attempted bombing of a Spanish disco in 1988.

With Meyer dead and Klump in custody, only three Red Army Faction suspects on Germany's most wanted list remain at large: Ernst Volker Staub, 44; Sabine Elke Callsen, 38; and Daniela Klette, 40.
