The history, tradition and excellence of Children's Hospital should not be jeopardized because of conflicting interests that have arisen as a result of the merger between Buffalo General, Millard Fillmore and Children's.
The discussion about moving Children's Hospital to a site near Roswell Park is shortsighted, and is oblivious to the needs of the many families that the hospital serves so well.
As a pharmaceutical sales representative for Eli Lilly and Co., I have had the pleasure of conducting business at this fine institution for more than seven years. During this time, I have visited Buffalo more than 250 times.
I firmly believe that Children's current location is ideal because the Elmwood/Delaware neighborhood is attractive, vibrant and safe. This unique location epitomizes the spirit of Buffalo and the desire of its residents to say, "I'm from Buffalo, and proud of it!"
As a frequent visitor to your fine city, I have seen areas of the city that leave a bit to be desired. I think that Children's and the surrounding area can be one of Buffalo's shining lights, both for its residents and its tourists. People should do their part as proud citizens of Buffalo to ensure Children's Hospital remains where it stands today.
