Game Three of the International League's Governors Cup finals between Durham and Charlotte was postponed due to Hurricane Floyd.
The best-of-five series is tied, 1-1, and the teams are scheduled to resume it tonight in Fort Mill, S.C., where Charlotte plays its home games.
If the rain persists, however, changes to the schedule will become necessary because the IL's representative to the Triple-A World Series, which begins Monday in Las Vegas, must be determined by Saturday night.
"We're optimistic we'll be able to play (tonight)," IL president Randy Mobley said. "The reports we're getting is that conditions will improve in Charlotte once this thing hits land and moves more northward."
Mobley said another rainout tonight could force the series to be shortened to best-of-three, with the decisive game played Friday. Or a double-header could be played Friday with Game Five, if necessary, then played Saturday.
