Florence V. Winans, 95, of Abington Place, North Tonawanda, a homemaker who was dedicated to her family and church, died Tuesday (Sept. 14, 1999) in DeGraff Memorial Hospital, North Tonawanda, after a brief illness.
The former Florence Johns was born in Scranton, Pa., and attended high school there. After marrying Martin O. Winans, the couple moved to Hyde Park Boulevard, Niagara Falls, in 1918. She moved to North Tonawanda in 1978.
Mrs. Winans was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, and of its Martha Society and Altar Guild. In addition, she was a past member of the Flagler Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Niagara Falls.
Her husband died in 1979.
Survivors include a son, M. Bert of Lansing, Mich.; a daughter, Eleanor Bunston of North Tonawanda; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Otto Redanz LaSalle Park Chapel, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.
