Village police have charged five juveniles with petit larceny after several windows were reported broken at the Center Street warehouse of Zeches Furniture and Appliance Monday.

The youths reportedly threw sticks and rocks at the windows, causing $1,300 damage. Four of the juveniles were cited for third-degree criminal mischief.

Later in the evening, two of the youths allegedly tried to steal a car on Center Street, but were unable to start the vehicle. They were charged with attempted grand larceny. A purse was taken from the car, resulting in the petit larceny counts.

One of the youths was returned to a juvenile detention center in Rochester after processing, and the other four were petitioned to Family Court.
